This was the year of the goose. Remember back in April when we hatched out 17 goslings? Well, having 19 large geese is to say the least a little noisy and destructive on the yard. So, what to do with them? "Let's have goose for Christmas dinner!" Deann exclaims. So, for two weeks she researched how to butcher, prep and cook a goose. All in all the project was a success. The meat was a little tough but didn't taste bad. Conclusion? It was a heck of alot of work! So, she can check that off her self sustenance bucket list and next year we'll buy a nice steak for Christmas dinner.
Here is a pic of Deann weighing the goose to see how long to cook it. Coocoo was VERY interested in how many pounds she would get to eat.
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season and a new year filled with happiness and sunshine! Donna, Deann and Hilda. (Card designed by Donna)
Donna and Deann gave me a great Christmas Present. They rebuilt my greenhouse for me. Deann has worked very hard getting it done, even making a door. I can hardly wait until spring to get in and start growing little plants. Thanks Girls!!!!
Marley and Cocoa lay in front of my sliding doors and watch for anything that moves. They even bark at birds and the cats at the barn. I definitely know if anyone is coming to my house!\
We had a couple of days of rain and there is a gulley that carries the water from the hill behind my house and during hard rain it can become a pretty good stream. Marley had never seen it and when I let her out she went crazy. First she barked at it and then she jumped in and for 2 hours she played like a kid in a swimming pool.
I love my front porch, its about 4 ft off the ground and the big oak and small oak are real close to it. So when I go out there and sit its like being in a tree house. It's so peaceful and relaxing. There are deer and a flock of wild turkeys in the field below.
Finally home and settled, our Little Sam! I can't believe he's already 5 days old. He is so cute and it really is hard for this great grandma to not to be able to hold him but I will be going out as soon as I can.
This Morning at 12:01 my Grandaughter Mary gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, weighing in at 5 lbs, 10ozs. His name is Samuel Paul McCorkle. Congratulations Sean and Mary. Wish I could be there to hold him. He is beautiful!!!
This post is of our last full moon. I took some fantastic pictures out of my window and really wanted to share them.
Scribble can find the oddest positions to sleep in. This one I call his yoga pose, This is one of his favorite, I find him like this a lot.
