A hen came off the nest yesterday with 3 baby chicks. I watched them all day as she took them around the chicken lot introducing them to the world. I loved how she talked to them and ever now and then she would sit down and they would run and get under her wing and take a short nap. Then up again and running around.
The trees are so beautiful dressed in their spring green and and wearing a hat of white fluffy clouds in a bright blue sky.
Jeff was in Louisville with 36 of his students for a competition and found time to visit with the family. We took time out for a photo of me, Jeff and J in the backyard. It was really nice to get to spend some time with Jeff. I don't get to Colorado to visit with his family as much as I would like to.
The mayapples are in bloom and Donna captured this beautiful picture of one of them in bloom. With the rain everything now is green and lush.
The little wren house just out from the back deck is now occupied by a little wren. The male announces it to the world is such a loud voice for such a small body. I love sitting on the deck and listening to him.
Lucy the goose has finally got on her nest and is nesting. She has 6 eggs and I will be surprised if she hatches out one of them. It took her a long time to make up her mind to sit on the eggs.
Scribble and Cinderpelt take a nap together in the sun. Cinderpelt is the kitten and she must be copying Scribble since they are matched up like bookends.
Spring green is everywhere, that beautiful green color that just covers the land this time of year. From year to year we tend to forget how wonderful and beautiful spring is, the rebirth of the earth.
The lilac bushes are in bloom and this heavenly scent drifts around. Heaven must have a white picket fence with lilacs hanging over it.
The goats are loving the green grass and plants that are now growing in the field. It's been a long hard winter.
