It's Spring, the Mayapples are up. When we see them in the woods we know Spring has arrived. Its always been one of my favorite Spring plants. Mayapple is unique in that It has only 2 large, twin, umbrella-like leaves and a solitary, nodding, white flower which grows in the axil of the leaves.
The baby goats are growing up and getting bigger. The ones in the fields run like the wind from one end to the other over and over and then run to mom for a little snack before they are off again.
Rooster meets baby goat. They didn't quite know what to do. The baby just wanted to play the rooster wanted to claim his territory. Guess they finally just decided to go their own way. It ended peacefully.
The company we order our chicks from always gives us one special breed chick in an order. This year we got this cresthead chick. Have no idea what kind of chicken it its but it is cute and doing great. Can't wait to see what it turns into. There are always surprises at the farm.
The redbud trees are making quite a showing now. Their brilliant color stands out with the white pear and dogwoods. Spring, Spring, Spring, it's here!!!!
Cocoa is obsessed with the baby chicks. She wants to be in on the action no matter what is going on. I hope she just wants to play with them not eat them!
We hatched out adorable baby chicks just in time for Easter. Cute chicks... but unfortunate choice of newspaper heading on their bedding.
Cocoa takes advantage of a nice warm place to take a nap. It just happened to be on top of Dood under her pile of blankets.
Baby goats are so cute and you just want to snuggle with them but all they want to do is jump and run. Deann has a barn full of these wonderful little critters. I could spend all day just watching them.
I tried to get some pictures of the babies but found it impossible unless they are asleep. This is one of the pens full of babies. They are so cute and so busy jumping and twirling and moving around.
